Parallel Plate Lamella Clarifiers Tube Settlers

The Parallel Plate Clarifier is an inclined pate, shallow depth sedimentation device. In comparison, the Parallel Plate Clarifier has a number of advantages which overcome the limitations of other products designed for the same performance applications, advantages which yield savings in space requirements, capital, and operating costs.

There are several clarification technologies which us being manufactured by WTPL are as below:

  • Parallel Plate clarifiers
  • Lamella clarifiers
  • Tube settlers

Parallel Plate Clarifiers

The Parallel Plate Clarifier is an inclined pate, shallow depth sedimentation device. In comparison, the Parallel Plate Clarifier has a number of advantages which overcome the limitations of other products designed for the same performance applications, advantages which yield savings in space requirements, capital, and operating costs. In addition, the technology is key to enhanced solids removals in the liquid/solid gravity separation systems.

These wastewater clarifiers are manufactured in various materials of construction, depending upon the requirements of a Parallel plate clarifiers have been used in specific applications for precipitation for many years. This design allows for a higher rate of flow in a smaller footprint. In addition, the parallel plate clarifier design is simple to operate and has a considerably less expensive maintenance cost because there are few, if any, moving parts; perfect for new decentralized wastewater systems. The parallel plate clarifier will provide for separation of free settling, non-hindered solids in wastewater.

Wastewater will enter the influent distribution chamber where the influent diffuser header and the flow distribution orifices will provide for the appropriate flow dissipation and distribution before entering the adjacent parallel plate packs and the solids collection chamber below.

The inclined parallel plate packs will provide for removal of free settling, non-hindered concentrations of solids from the influent wastewater. Whether using a parallel plate or Circular Mechanical wastewater clarifier system, or a combination of other waste water treatment plants and/or systems, let WTPL design and build the perfect wastewater treatment solution for you.

Plate Settlers Advantages

  • Constructed of Stainless Steel they offer years of durability
  • Low maintenance
  • Longer life than Tube Settlers
  • Durable plates are mounted in stainless steel frames in a modular design for easy installation at the site in new and retrofit for existing systems
  • Due to their high efficiency, the size of the basin can be reduced by up to 2X compared with Tube Settlers
  • Designs for wastewater treatment facilities are also offered

Lamella Clarifiers Systems

Lamella Clarifier system is to be used for surface water treatment along with pre-Coagulation and Flocculation system for removal of TSS, Colour, Algae etc.

This lamella Settler will provide large projected surface area in a limited space than conventional settler. The flocculated water sludge enters into lamella pack system and clear water move upwards and sludge will be settled down on packs and move downwards due to gravity, then removed from bottom of the tank intermittently

Lamella Clarifiers Advantages

  • The main advantage of lamella clarifiers over other clarifying systems is the large effective settling area caused by the use of inclined plates, which improves the operating conditions of the clarifiers in a number of ways.
  • Operation within an enclosed space also allows for a better control of operating temperature and pressure conditions.
  • Lamella clarifiers also offer a simple design without requiring the use of chemicals. They are therefore able to act as pre-treatment for delicate membrane processes, where necessary flocculants may be added to promote efficiency.

Tube Settlers

Tube Settler Systems for Clarification. Tube settlers and parallel plates increase the settling capacity of circular clarifiers and/or rectangular sedimentation basins by reducing the vertical distance a floc particle must settle before agglomerating to form larger particles.

Tube settler produced by WTPL uses PP, PVC and FRP as its raw material. It was hot-drawn into a hexagonal tube shape by infrared thermal machine and then welded into the using shape with patented technology and high frequency. Our inclined tube settler can be applied to many kinds of precipitation and sand removing.

In decades, it is the most mature water treatment device that widely used in drainage projects. With the advantages of wide application range, high treatment efficiency and small occupation area, it can be used in water inlet degritting, industrial and living water sedimentation, sewage sedimentation, grease and tailing enrichment processing…and so on. It not only can be applied to new construction project but also the transformation of existing old tank and you can achieve astounding economic benefit in both occasions.

Tube settlers increase the settling capacity of circular clarifiers and/or rectangular sedimentation basins by reducing the vertical distance.

The floc particles would settle before agglomerating to form larger particles. The settlers use multiple tubular channels sloped at an angle of 60° and adjacent to each other, which combine to form an increased effective settling area. This provides for a particle settling depth that is significantly less than the settling depth of a conventional clarifier, reducing settling times. Tube settlers capture the settle able fine floc that escapes the clarification zone beneath the tube settlers and allows the larger floc to travel to the tank bottom in a more settle able form. The settler’s channel collects solids into a compact mass which promotes the solids to slide down the tube channel.

Lamella Clarifiers Main Features

  • Large wetted perimeter, small hydraulic radius.
  • Good laminar flow conditions, particle deposition is out of turbulent flow interference.
  • When the oblique tube length is 1 meter, the effective payload is designed to meet 3-5t/m2, Vo is controlled within 2.5-3.0mm/seconds, then it has the best water quality.
  • After applied tube settler in water intake, if its length is 2.0-3.0 M, it can work effectively in high turbidity tank of 50-100 Kg/M3 sediment concentration. After applied tube settler in sedimentation tank, its water treatment capacity is 3-5 times of advection sedimentation tank and 2-3 times of the accelerating clarification tank and pulse clarification tank.

Advantages of Tube Settlers

The advantages of tube settlers can be applied to new or existing clarifiers/basins of any size.

Clarifiers / basins equipped with tube/lamella settlers can operate at 4 to 8 times the normal rate of clarifiers/basins without tube or lamella settlers.

It is possible to cut coagulant dosage by up to half while maintaining a lower influent turbidity to the treatment plant filters.

Less filter backwashing equates to significant operating cost savings for both water and electricity. New installations using tube can be designed smaller because of increased flow capability.

Flow of existing water treatment plants can be increased through the addition of tube or lamella settlers.

Tube increase allowable flow capacity by expanding settling capacity and increasing the solids removal rate in settling tanks.

Plate vs Tube Settlers

Conventional sedimentation is one of the oldest forms of water treatment. It uses gravity to separate particles from water. In order to achieve the desired results in a conventional sedimentation basin, a large basin with long residence time is needed. Results in this type of system can be affected by particle concentration, wind, sludge accumulation, temperature changes and flow rate.

Sedimentation is a function of basin surface area, and is independent of detention time. Decreasing settling depth can be substituted for basin length to achieve particle removal efficiency. Hence, ways to divide tanks into layers, lamella, were introduced.

Two types of lamella sedimentation equipment are currently available commercially, Tube Settler and Plate Settlers. Both types of equipment use shallow sedimentation theory to achieve the desired results. Use of Tube Settlers, or Plate Settlers can allow for greater loading rates of the system by expanding the surface area for sedimentation. This allows for greater loading rates, and results in a large reduction in the basin size needed to achieve the same results. It is generally accepted a reduction in settling surface area of 80+ percent can be achieved.
