The effluent after getting mixed with recycled biomass is maintained at a feed temperature of 36-38 degree Celsius is fed in to the digester. The feed rate is controlled by a control valve and a flow meter provided in the feed line and the sludge recycling line.

Clarifier gets further mixed with contents of the digester with the help of Central and Lateral agitators, which provide homogeneous mixing in the digester.. Anaerobic digestion takes place in the Digester, as a result of which BOD/COD is reduced and biogas is evolved. The biogas produced in the Digester accumulates in digester roof; the biogas can be transferred to the boiler by a biogas blower. Surplus gas, if any, is burnt in a gas flare unit whenever gas is not being utilized in the boiler. Flame Arresters are provided in gas lines to protect the digester from backfire from the flare and/or the boiler burner. ‘Over/Under’ pressure release device is provided on biogas digester for its safety from over pressure/vacuum.
